PiCC United’s Strategic Sponsor Advisory Board

Our Ethical patient partnership for a stronger healthcare system.

A structured partnership model built on integrity

PiCC United has established the Strategic Sponsor Advisory Board to create a transparent and structured dialogue between mission-aligned partners and our organisation.

The purpose is simple:

    • To ensure sustainable, independent patient leadership — while safeguarding integrity, governance and public trust.
    • This Advisory Board is not a governing body.
    • It is not a decision-making forum. It is a structured platform for dialogue and strategic alignment.

We believe sustainability requires transparency. And partnership requires clear boundaries.

Why This Board Exists

PiCC United works to strengthen meaningful patient involvement across research, policy and innovation. To do so sustainably, we require structured and ethical collaboration models.

The Strategic Sponsor Advisory Board ensures:

• Sustainable unrestricted funding
• Structured cross-sector dialogue
• Long-term financial stability
• Protection of organisational independence

The Strategic Sponsor Advisory Board operates under the principles of transparency, independence and mission protection.

Governance Position

The Advisory Board:

    • Is advisory only
      • Has no formal decision-making authority
      • Has no voting rights
      • Does not override the Board of Trustees
      • Cannot influence statutory governance

Final decision-making authority remains solely with the PiCC United Board.

Meeting Structure

    • Two annual strategic advisory meetings
      • One annual impact briefing
      • Optional thematic dialogue sessions

Each meeting focuses on:

    • System-level trends
      • Cross-sector collaboration
      • Barriers to patient inclusion
      • Ethical partnership reflections

Transparency Commitment

PiCC United commits to:

    • Publishing partner names
      • Publicly outlining contribution levels
      • Annual reporting on impact

      • Conflict of Interest transparency
      • Non-interference in patient representation
      • Non-influence over recruitment processes
      • Respect for arms-length principles

Protection of Patient Independence

Sponsors:

  • Do not select patient representatives
    • Do not access personal patient data
    • Do not influence individual project deliverables
    • Do not control policy positions

PiCC United remains fully independent in:

    • Strategic direction
      • Public statements
      • Publications
      • Partnerships

Our mission is never subject to sponsorship influence.

What It Is — and What It Is Not

The Advisory Board:

✔ Provides strategic dialogue
✔ Offers insight into system-level challenges
✔ Supports long-term sustainability

It does NOT:

✖ Influence patient selection
✖ Influence governance decisions
✖ Control content or publications
✖ Direct operational activities
✖ Provide exclusive access to patients

Clear boundaries protect both partners and patients.

Strategic Sponsorship is based on a fixed annual contribution.

The contribution supports:

    • Operational infrastructure
      • Governance capacity
      • Educational initiatives
      • Independent advisory development
      • System-level patient engagement

Standard Annual Contribution

€2,000 – €5,000 per year (depending on partnership tier)

(Custom tiers may be structured transparently.)

      • Visibility on the PiCC United website
      • Invitation to annual strategic impact briefing

      • Early insight into strategic themes

What they do NOT receive:

    • Influence over governance
      • Preferential recruitment access
      • Content approval rights
      • Voting authority

Integrity is structured — not assumed.

All Strategic Sponsors commit to:

    • Code of Conduct compliance
      • Conflict of Interest transparency
      • Arms-length collaboration principles
      • Non-interference in patient recruitment
