PiCC United has established the Strategic Sponsor Advisory Board to create a transparent and structured dialogue between mission-aligned partners and our organisation.
The purpose is simple:
- To ensure sustainable, independent patient leadership — while safeguarding integrity, governance and public trust.
- This Advisory Board is not a governing body.
- It is not a decision-making forum.It is a structured platform for dialogue and strategic alignment.
We believe sustainability requires transparency. And partnership requires clear boundaries.
Why This Board Exists
PiCC United works to strengthen meaningful patient involvement across research, policy and innovation. To do so sustainably, we require structured and ethical collaboration models.
The Strategic Sponsor Advisory Board ensures:
• Sustainable unrestricted funding
• Structured cross-sector dialogue
• Long-term financial stability
• Protection of organisational independence
The Strategic Sponsor Advisory Board operates under the principles of transparency, independence and mission protection.
Governance Position
The Advisory Board:
- Is advisory only
• Has no formal decision-making authority
• Has no voting rights
• Does not override the Board of Trustees
• Cannot influence statutory governance
- Is advisory only
Final decision-making authority remains solely with the PiCC United Board.
Meeting Structure
- Two annual strategic advisory meetings
• One annual impact briefing
• Optional thematic dialogue sessions
- Two annual strategic advisory meetings
Each meeting focuses on:
- System-level trends
• Cross-sector collaboration
• Barriers to patient inclusion
• Ethical partnership reflections
- System-level trends
Transparency Commitment
PiCC United commits to:
- Publishing partner names

All Strategic Sponsors agree to:

• Non-interference in patient representation
• Non-influence over recruitment processes

Protection of Patient Independence
Sponsors:
- Do not select patient representatives
• Do not access personal patient data
• Do not influence individual project deliverables
• Do not control policy positions
PiCC United remains fully independent in:

Our mission is never subject to sponsorship influence.
What It Is — and What It Is Not
The Advisory Board:
✔ Provides strategic dialogue
✔ Offers insight into system-level challenges
✔ Supports long-term sustainability
It does NOT:
✖ Influence patient selection
✖ Influence governance decisions
✖ Control content or publications
✖ Direct operational activities
✖ Provide exclusive access to patients
Clear boundaries protect both partners and patients.
Strategic Sponsorship is based on a fixed annual contribution.
The contribution supports:
- Operational infrastructure
• Governance capacity
• Educational initiatives
• Independent advisory development
• System-level patient engagement
- Operational infrastructure
Standard Annual Contribution
€2,000 – €5,000 per year (depending on partnership tier)
(Custom tiers may be structured transparently.)
What Sponsors Receive
- Participation in structured advisory dialogue

• Invitation to annual strategic impact briefing
• Opportunity to co-host one knowledge webinar (non-promotional)
• Early insight into strategic themes
