Identify your challenges and resources in 4 steps

Reflection tool for Patient Advocatese

Help yourself (or your team) understand where you stand as a patient advocate and what you need to strengthen your work – step by step.

Empower your work as a patient advocate – step by step

Being a patient advocate can be both meaningful and demanding. It requires insight into your own resources, clarity about your role and the courage to act – often in complex situations. To support you in this endeavour, we have developed a simple and easy-to-use reflection tool: SEE – THINK – DO – CARE.

What is the tool all about?

SEE – THINK – DO – CARE guides you through four simple steps to help you gain an overview and take control of your role as a patient advocate. The tool invites you to reflect on your current situation, your goals and your wellbeing – and allows you to identify what you need to make an even bigger difference.

How can it be used?

The tool can be used both individually and in teams and requires no special prerequisites.

Use it for e.g:

    • Getting an overview of your tasks and priorities.
    • Identify resources you can draw on.
    • Set concrete goals for your ongoing work.
    • Ensure that you take care of yourself along the way.

Find your 4 steps

This tool is designed for anyone working as a patient advocate – whether you are new to the role or have years of experience. The aim is to help you (or your team) get a clear overview of where you stand, what challenges you face and what you need to strengthen your work and make a difference – step by step.

SEE – What do you see?

See your current activities, relationships and the opportunities that surround you.

THINK – What are you thinking?

Reflect on your challenges, needs and goals as a patient advocate – both personally and in the bigger picture.

DO – What are you doing?

Identify concrete actions you can take to strengthen your work – alone or with others.

CARE – How do you look after yourself and your commitment?

Consider how you can maintain motivation, avoid overload and create sustainability in your engagement.

With SEE – THINK – DO – CARE you take active ownership of your role as a patient advocate and empower yourself to grow – at your own pace and with your own resources.

It can be helpful if you feel overwhelmed – but it can also be used as a regular reflection, e.g. every 3 months, to track your progress.
