Funding, Sponsorship & Independence
PiCC United are committed to transparency, integrity, and independence in all funding relationships.
Independent by Design
All funding is governed by our core principle:
“Sponsorship provides access – not influence.”
This means:
- Donors and sponsors have no influence over our governance, activities, or outputs
- Funding does not provide decision-making power or control
- All work is carried out independently and at arm’s length
Who We Accept Funding From
PiCC United currently accepts funding only from organisations (legal entities).
All donors must be identifiable, including organisation name, country, and contact details.
Due Diligence and Approval
We apply a risk-based approach to all funding:
- Basic verification for smaller contributions
- Enhanced due diligence for larger or higher-risk funding
- Formal agreements for significant contributions
All major funding is subject to Board-level review and approval.
Right to Refuse Funding
We reserve the right to decline or return funding where:
- The donor cannot be adequately identified
- There is a conflict with our mission or values
- There is a risk of undue influence
- There are ethical, legal, or reputational concerns
Our Governance Model
PiCC United operates with clear separation between funding and decision-making:
- The Board of Trustees holds full responsibility for funding decisions
- A Sponsorship Board / Strategic Supporters Circle provides input and dialogue only
- Sponsors have no role in governance or approval processes
Transparency
We are committed to transparency in how we operate and collaborate:
- Funding sources may be disclosed where relevant
- No funding overrides our independence
We collaborate with organisations – not under them.
Our funding model ensures independence, transparency, and zero influence on our work.
