In this course you can learn and explores the important differences between patient involvement and patient engagement – two key healthcare terms that are often used interchangeably, but have different meanings and implications for patients and healthcare.

Remember you can watch the videos over and over again, and always pause them when you no longer have the energy to continue.

Patient engagement refers to the process of involving patients in decisions about their own care. It’s often about ensuring patients have access to the information and tools they need to make informed decisions about their health and treatment options. It’s an approach that focuses on including patients’ perspectives, but often remains at a consultative level.

Patient engagement, on the other hand, goes a step further by recognising patients as active partners in the entire healthcare system. It’s not just about involving patients, but also about engaging them in all phases of healthcare – from research and policy-making to treatment and care. Engaged patients help shape strategies, improve treatment options and ensure the healthcare system is tailored to their needs.

Watch the video to gain a deeper understanding of how patient involvement and patient engagement differ and how we can create better outcomes for both patients and the healthcare system by strengthening the role of patients in decision-making processes.

PiCC United are committed to delivering quality content developed by experts in their field. All our material is carefully crafted with the knowledge and experience that our experts bring to each project.

At the same time, we have chosen to utilise artificial intelligence (AI) to produce our videos, images and visual elements. This choice is not only a matter of technology, but also part of our goal to ensure that every member of PiCC United has access to tangible and relevant material tailored to their needs. By using AI, we can quickly and efficiently create visual content that is easily accessible to all our members and can be customised to their individual patient engagement journeys.

This approach allows us to focus on what matters most: ensuring that patients’ voices are heard and valued in every project, while making it easier for members to learn and actively participate. Our use of AI is therefore a strategic choice that supports our mission to create stronger and more inclusive patient engagement.

We hope you enjoy the course!
